Island New Democrats Strike Leadership Search Committee

Jason Alward, President of the Island New Democrats, has announced the launching of a Leadership Search Committee to oversee the process of filling the position available since Joe Byrne stepped down in September.
“We are very thankful for the contributions made by our retired leader Joe Bryne, and now we have initiated the process to elect a new leader”, explains Alward. A Leadership Committee has been struck who are tasked with setting the rules for a leadership contest, as well as interviewing and vetting potential leadership candidates.
Members of the Leadership Committee include:
- Jason Alward President, Island New Democrats
- Joe Byrne Former Leader
- Susan MacVittie Women’s Committee Representative
- Sam Lowe Youth Representative
“Any Island resident who believes in the values and principles of our Party, adheres to the Leadership Committee race requirements, and has the passion to Iead, is eligible to seek leadership of the Island New Democrats”, affirms Jason Alward. The new leader will be elected in the Spring of 2021 on a date yet to be set.
“It’s an exciting time for Island New Democrats as we engage in electing a new leader. We anticipate renewed interest with greater membership and participation of Islanders over the next year as we elect a new Party leader,” concludes President Jason Alward.
