Marian White District 8 Stanhope-Marshfield

Marian grew up on a farm in Donagh as the fifth of ten children. She currently lives across the River in Tracadie. Her sons Marco and Simon live in Upper Canada. After graduating from UPEI she went overseas to teach with Cuso International. Marian has decades of experience with non-governmental organizations in international development.

Democratic socialism attracted Marian because she believes governments should meet public needs not profit the few who are wealthy and well connected. As a single mother she managed to keep a balance of work and home life which at times was a struggle but she was fortunate to have support from friends and family. Her interests include gardening, traveling and just ‘being’ at home in her little corner of the world. She leads a simple life with a small environmental footprint.

A motto that Marian lives by is "Not to act is to act" which means she is outspoken on various matters both local and international.

Currently she is active on the NDP PEI Provincial Council as First Vice President, communications and fundraising and all kinds of backroom women’s support. Marian believes in service to her community which translates into such activities as roadside clean-ups, youth advocacy, race relations and support for New Canadians.

She believes in fairness saying "This 2019 campaign will be an opportunity to give voice to my belief that Islanders deserve better from our political leaders."
